The plaque on the bottom of the pitcher shows that it was made by Hall Elton & Company of Wallingford, Connecticut. This company produced German silver and Britannia items popular in the Victorian era. My estimate is that this pitcher was produced between 1850 and 1880. The pitcher is structurally perfect. The piece is very heavy.

Note the exquisite details like the woman figure-head on the handle, the frog in the nautilus shell finial on the top and the fine floral engraving on the body. This pitcher has not been polished or restored.

The silver plating has diminished. Some collectors would appreciate the historical patina and not restore and some collectors might want to have the pitcher replated and actually use the pitcher for coffee service. This should be in a museum as an example of early American silver work. The pitcher is 13 1/4 tall to the top of the finial.

The widest part of the body is 7 1/4. The base is 6 1/2 in diameter. The measurement from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle is 10 5/8. The opening of the pitcher is 3 7/8 in diameter.

It holds 2 quarts comfortably with some room to spare. Any questions, please contact me. I have a couple more photos which exceeded my 12 photo limit.
